Spent my daylight hours taping Jessie and Splash for their level 2 assessment! Therefore there was little light left when I went to get Cal. He was really unconfident today. I spent an hour playing with thresholds before I was able to make it to the arena, where I spent another hour getting him confident.
I'm pleased with how the session went. I never got angry or impatient with him, and instead of falling hopelessly into a downward spiral of right-brained freaking out, I actually felt as if I was helping Cal gain confidence in me and in himself.
It all went really well until the end, where the generator ran out of gas and the lights went out on us. When I let Cal go he left at a canter. (My dad had just let Furi go, and he left right away.) Hopefully Cal remembers the two hours I spent helping him find safety and comfort rahter than the last 5 seconds where he went running away.
