Played with Cal, Lyssi, and Buttons today, and great sessions all around.
Cal I played with in three savvies! Started online, on the 45' line. Better trailer loading today...handled myself better and I played with some different strategies. Backed Cal into the trailer. =) Did some trotting sideways. Played with going sideways over a pole from a distance. Circles I tried playing wtih transitions...they still need work. Not very responsive to phase 1 or 2, whether downward or upward trnasitions. Also tried to do some figure-8's, at the canter, with simple changes. Took a while to get the pattern going, but we got closer at the end.
Then rode in the natural performer. Follow the rail was great. Did it at walk, trot, and canter today. Also did some w/t transitions, which went well. Then did some figure-8 patterns. Went well. Got some great canter figure-8's with simple changes. No luck with the flying changes. And played with backing up, moving hindquarters, forequarters, and going sideways. Better than yesterday, and much room for improvement still.
Finally spent some time at liberty. Mostly just wandered around. The highlight was my lead by the chin. It was brilliant! Worked so well! Led him all over the arena! Yay! Time to start played with lead by the mane and ear, as well. Hope I can get those two going just as well!
Lyssi I think I had a small breakthrough session with her. I feel like I've finally getting some ideas of what to do with her. And today she finally jumped something! Which makes me happy, because I wasn't sure how long it was going to take for me to get that.
And then with Buttons played a lot with working towards four feet on the pedestal. Was consistantly getting three by the end of the session. Also had him back over a pole, back between barrels, and go in the trailer enough that he had to put his back feet on the ramp. Had lots of licking and chewing throughout the session. By the end, I was playing some stick to me, and he was pretty enthusiastic and willing to move, so I thought that was quite cool!
